Yu Yuphoria: First Impressions

Yu Yuphoria: First Impressions

Brace yourself for a new smartphone courtesy of Yu Televentures, a Micromax subsidiary. The new smartphone, Yu Yuphoria, by Yu Televentures was released by the company on Tuesday to a very warm reception. For the launch of the phone, the company put into uses all its available tricks so as to ensure that there was the enough hype and talk surrounding the whole event. The company even crowdsourced the name as well as the display size to audacious teaser videos.

All that hype out of the way we will be checking to see whether or not the phone is worth giving it a try. The founder of Yu, Rahul Shama, spent most of the time during the phones launch talking about the Yu Yuphoria design. In particular he stressed on the phone’s metal build body as well as how it gives it an edge if compared to its rivals who are priced similar to it. That sounds really good in theory but looking at it practically the phone only has a metal frame and the rest of the phone’s body is plastic. In fact the back of the phone is made out of a very thing plastic which feels very flimsy when you remove it. In addition to that, the back is also prone to smudges.

The phone has a distinctive look thanks to back camera which is perfectly centered on the back and surrounded by a big ring. The Yu Yuphoria has a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as a Micro-USB port, both of which are centered on the phones bottom and top edges. Something that also stands out is the phones volume buttons which are on either sides of the power button. Also to note is that the smartphone feels heavier than it actually looks and it has a 5-ich 720 display.
